BISFed become first international federation client of Sport:80…
Sport:80 has signed an agreement with BISFed, the new IPC-recognised federation that governs the Paralympic sport of Boccia, to build and maintain a bespoke membership management and events system.
BISFed was launched at the start of 2013 to govern and grow Boccia, almost 30 years after the sport made its first appearance in the Paralympic Games. The progressive-thinking organisation has identified a modern approach to sports technology as key in achieving its goal of enhancing Boccia internationally.
That’s where Sport:80 comes in, says BISFed President David Hadfield: “Modern challenges need modern solutions, and as a new federation we must address the task of building an international management structure for Boccia using the best technology available.
BISFed have brought Sport:80 on board to develop and build a membership system that will put Boccia at the forefront of sport management thinking. It will enable BISFed to grow this exciting and accessible Paralympic sport internationally, by automating much of the administration and communication that takes up a huge proportion of a sports federation’s resources.”
As well as customising membership and event modules for BISFed’s sports management system, Sport:80 will support the federation with consultancy services and management support and assist in delivering social media and electronic communications.
“We are really excited to be partnering with BISFed,” said Sport:80 Managing Director Gary Hargraves. “We work across all sports, but each sport is a new adventure. And this particular opportunity, to work with a federation from the start, does not come along very often.
“A fledging international sports federation, with an ambitious mission ahead of them… the potential is huge! Sport:80 are proud to have been selected as BISFed’s partner in developing the modern sports management structure, supported by our system, that the young federation needs.”
It will be the first membership software package Sport:80 has delivered, having developed its system at events including the ISSF Shooting World Cup as part of the London Prepares series for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the European Archery Festival, stage three of World Archery’s Indoor World Cup programme for 2014.
Boccia is not the only Paralympic sport that Sport:80 has close ties with. In 2014, the company is managing event logistics at the IPC Shooting World Cup for the third year in a row.
“Working with Paralympic sports really resonates with what we are trying to achieve with Sport:80,” explained Gary Hargraves. “If we are to realise sport’s potential, we’ve got to invest in the future and start linking international federations with the participants at every level. Sport does a lot of good in a lot of people’s lives, something that is very evident in Boccia and all other Paralympic sports. Sport:80 is committed to supporting this, and helping that good reach even more people around the world.”
Sport:80 now has one international federation invested in its vision of a connected sports world. How long before more realise the potential of organised, automated and syndicated data, and follow suit?
