A Boccia Coach & Education Survey was circulated in Spring 2016 to all countries in membership of BISFed, 20 countries responded. The audit was basic and was an attempt to discover the current global position of coach education and development.
In June 2016, a meeting of coaches was held in Povoa to initiate discussion regarding development at an international level and to feedback information from the survey. The key outcomes of the meeting were:
- Feedback from the audit of coaching within BISFed member countries;
- Initial consideration of a common terminology for international boccia;
- Establish BISFed player and coach pathways.
In November 2016 a BISFed meeting was held of the board and relevant individuals. The meeting took place over two days and the following outcomes were produced:
- Draft terminology;
- Draft pathway;
- Focus of the development committee should be coach education and development until 2020;
- Timeline for delivery of the inaugural BISFed International Training the Trainers.
