Making Boccia Accessible in Asia

20 new ‘Boccia Ambassadors’ attended a workshop in Dubai on 18 May, where they learned how to play boccia and how to teach others to play the game. Our new Boccia Ambassadors will return to their counties not only excited by what they have learned, but also with a stock of boccia balls which will help them to develop the sport. Countries which attended were: India, Indonesia, Jordan, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates

Rules Clarifications – May 2016

Notice to all BISFed members: I was the Head Referee at the 2016 BISFed Individual World Championships. I discovered that some of our rules are dealt with differently in different parts of the World. Please see the attached clarification of three rules that were discussed with the International referees in Beijing and agreed upon by our Rules Committee. By following these rules the same way around the World we will have consistency at all Competitions.

Rio 2016 Announcement

The BISFed Competition Committee are currently reviewing the proposed teams, pairs and individuals that have qualified for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. The committee were due to unofficially announce the athletes that have qualified on the 15th May however in order to check the information and produce the required documents there has been a slight delay.

BISFed 2016 Fazza World Open, Dubai

The teams are starting to arrive in Dubai ahead of the BISFed 2016 Fazza World Open. The organisers have now revealed their logo for the event that will host competitors from 18 countries including Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates . Over 80 athletes will compete across the 5 days of competition that will also see a number of national referees gain their referee qualification to help drive boccia participation in Asia.

BISFed World Rankings

The BISFed world rankings have now been updated. These final rankings will now be used to allocate slots for the 2016 Paralympic Games. Federations will receive a preliminary invitation informing them of the slots they have been allocated and a list of athletes that are eligible for selection before the 15th May.
