BISFed 2016 Fazza World Open, Dubai

The teams are starting to arrive in Dubai ahead of the BISFed 2016 Fazza World Open. The organisers have now revealed their logo for the event that will host competitors from 18 countries including Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates . Over 80 athletes will compete across the 5 days of competition that will also see a number of national referees gain their referee qualification to help drive boccia participation in Asia.

Pre-event the Dubai Club for the Disabled will also host the 3rd Making Boccia Accessible course. Participants from Jordan, Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Vietnam and Mongolia will all get an introduction to boccia and will also be provided with equipment to begin spreading the game in their respective countries.

We now have over 50 members and the sport is growing around the world. It is played by more athletes than ever before and the demand for elite level events is continuing to grow.

Dom Tremblay, Chair of the BISFed Competition Committee said, ‘The committee have listened to our members and we are working hard to finalise the competition system for 2017-2020. We’re working on making the system as fair as possible for members in each of our regions and will do our best to ensure all of our athletes have the best opportunity to perform on the elite stage.’

This competition is the third event of the year and will be used by many as final preparation ahead of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
