Making Boccia Accessible kick starts in Kenya!
We’ve been sent some great photos from Kenya where the Making Boccia Accessible project was introduced back in March. The pictures show the game being introduced to a number of boccia ambassadors who will then take the game into their communities to help develop the game in Africa.
The boccia ambassadors were presented with a set of balls, callipers and a referees paddle. The Agitos grant, along with donations from UK Sport and Hogan Lovells has meant that over 300 sets can be delivered to ambassadors around the world. As well as delivering the equipment, the money has ensured that the ambassadors can receive full training before they take the game into their communities.
The next workshop will take place in Santiago de Cali at the end of the month with participants from Aruba, Caribbean, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Jamaica, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago and Uruguay taking part. We’re looking forward to educating the new ambassadors and sending them home with the equipment and knowledge to inspire the next generation of boccia stars from the Americas!
