New Year Message from the BISFed President

New Year Message from the BISFed President

I trust you all enjoyed your boccia in 2014 as much as I did watching some fantastic competition – whether this was live at the World Championships in Beijing, or on-line at one of the World Open events..

And now it is 2015 during which we will see the busiest competitive schedule in the history of boccia – so I can’t wait. Of course many athletes will have their sights set on a place at the Paralympic Games in Rio 2016, and this year’s competitions offer many opportunities to earn World Ranking points towards that goal and I expect the competition to be tougher than ever.

Of course, to have a healthy sport at the elite level, we also need to grow the sport at grass root level. Therefore during 2015, as part of a project called ‘Making Boccia Accessible’, BISFed will be sending supplies of boccia balls to a number of countries where boccia is under-represented, or where the game is not yet played, together with sufficient training to enable the game to develop. BISFed has entered into an agreement with Handi Life Sports to manufacture ‘BISFed Standard Boccia Balls’ for this project. These high quality balls which represent excellent value for money, will also be made exclusively available for purchase by BISFed Members which we hope will encourage the growth of boccia in your own country. We will announce the process for ordering these balls during the next week.

I am looking forward to seeing many of you at the various competitions during the coming year, and in particular at the three Regional Team and Pairs Championships, and I wish you every success in 2015.

David Hadfield
