Cali Prepares!

Preparations are underway in Santiago de Cali for the final BISFed competition of 2015. Teams have been arriving all week and play starts tomorrow.

Not only did the Colombian federation decided to host their first major BISFed competition, they also played host to  8 federations from across South America earlier this week in the second Making Boccia Accessible workshop. Feedback from the workshop has been incredible with the newly qualified boccia ambassadors now being sent back home to introduce boccia across the continent.

The organisers have also hosted 1 of 2 referees courses that are currently taking place to train new international referees. As the number of competitions continue to rise, BISFed are actively training more referees to cope with the demand. The 2 courses, in Sokcho and Cali, will see more than 20 new internationally recognised officials.

The demand for referee and classification courses within the boccia community is as high as ever. Over the next year BISFed will look to develop a structured calendar of events and courses as we look to grow. The overall aim is to ensure more people, in more places become involved in our wonderful game.

The main event starts tomorrow as over 100 athletes compete for the medals across the 7 events. Teams from Europe, Asia and America will be looking to earn those all important world ranking points as they look to secure their place at the BISFed World Championships and Rio Paralympic Games.
